Cross Questioning the Techworld: Is Google Bard the same as Chat GPT?

Know the power of the Google Bard, a free tool with a multitude of features including Search, Workspace, and more, that ChatGPT lacks. Get the full potential of Google's comprehensive toolkit.

After its November 2022 launch, Open AI's ChatGPT swiftly gained popularity all over the world. For most of the Indian techies, Chat GPT came as a savior in many ways and the obsession made it one of the best AI tools used by Indians. However, its competitor, Google Bard, has now come into the Indian market, potentially posing a challenge. While both chatbots are free, Google Bard offers a lot of tools like Search, Workspace, and more, giving it an advantage with features that ChatGPT lacks. Despite competing later, Bard has performed admirably. Let's look at how Google Bard has effectively utilized its tools to score an edge over ChatGPT.

Real-time Internet Access with Google Bard

Google Bard is equipped with a significant capability that makes it unique from other AI chatbots. While it has undergone extensive training on diverse datasets to make responses reliable, it also uses the power of the internet to augment its knowledge and give users the most up-to-date information available. This unique feature gives Google Bard the power to access real-time information from the web using the renowned Google Search engine.

The real-time internet access feature of Google Bard proves to be immensely valuable, particularly in the realms of research and information gathering. Imagine being able to ask a query to Google Bard and receiving results that are not only informed by its pre-existing knowledge but also supplemented by the wealth of information available online. Whether you look at the latest news updates, statistics, scientific discoveries, or any other information that the internet can give, Google Bard serves as a reliable conduit to access that information promptly.

This feature opens doors to endless possibilities. Students and researchers can delve into their areas of interest and explore a vast array of online resources in real time. From academic journals and scholarly articles to expert opinions and community forums, Google Bard's real-time internet access empowers users to gather the most current and comprehensive information available on their chosen topics.

Additionally, professionals across various fields can pull this feature to stay ahead of the curve. Whether it's tracking industry trends, market analysis, or occurring technologies, Google Bard's real-time internet access ensures that users are equipped with the latest insights and developments, enabling them to make informed decisions and stay competitive in their respective domains.

It is important to note that while Google Bard benefits from real-time internet access, ChatGPT, another AI model, operates differently. ChatGPT relies solely on the knowledge and information provided by its pre-defined datasets. Unlike Google Bard, it cannot access the internet for real-time information. Nonetheless, ChatGPT's comprehensive training and dataset utilization make it an efficient conversational AI model within its defined parameters.

Google Bard's real-time internet access feature revolutionises the way users can interact with an AI chatbot. By seamlessly combining online information into its responses, Google Bard improves the accuracy, relevance, and timeliness of the information it provides. This makes it an invaluable tool for researchers, students, professionals, and anyone seeking dependable and up-to-date information in real-time.

Google Bard's AI chatbot:  Convenience in All Means

Google Bard brings up a convenient and intuitive method for users to interact with the AI chatbot by accepting voice commands. Positioned at the right corner of the input bar, identical to the setup of Google Search, Google Bard incorporates a microphone option. This part enables users to communicate with the chatbot using their voice, delivering a hands-free and effortless experience. However, it's worth noting that ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, does not have this voice command capability.

When asked about its ability to accept voice commands, ChatGPT admitted its limitations as a text-based AI model. It clarified that it is unable to directly process voice commands and can only engage with text-based inputs. However, ChatGPT offered a solution by suggesting the usage of speech-to-text software or voice recognition tools. By utilising such tools, users can alter their voice commands into text and then input the text-based prompts to interact with the AI model.

It is essential to highlight that OpenAI has not disclosed any information heeding the potential implementation of voice command for ChatGPT, nor have they provided any indication of when such functionality might be introduced. As of now, the focus of ChatGPT lies primarily on text-based interactions, and users can experiment with various tools and technologies available for voice-to-text conversion to interact with the model effectively.

Exporting Responses: A Google Bard Exclusive Feature

Exporting With Google Bard, users have the additional convenience of exporting the responses generated by the AI chatbot to different platforms. This feature enables users to seamlessly transfer the generated content to various destinations. Currently, Google Bard has two export options: "Draft in Gmail" and "Export to Docs."

In contrast, ChatGPT does not include a similar feature. To copy text from ChatGPT, users would need to resort to the traditional method of manually selecting the desired portion of text and then copying and pasting it onto the desired platform. Additionally, Google Bard can summarise web pages by just entering  the link. It's a plus that is exclusively available for  Google Bard unlike Chat GPT.

What Distinguishes Chat GPT and Google?

ChatGPT and Bard both function similarly, with users asking queries to receive humanlike responses.

Microsoft recently announced the release of technology that lets large companies expand and customize their own chatbots using ChatGPT. Microsoft is also integrating AI-powered search functions into Bing search and Edge browser, improving the search experience. Google has not yet revealed plans to put AI chatbot functionality to its search engine.

The key difference between ChatGPT and Bard can be found in their data sources. Bard continuously retrieves information from the internet, providing permission for the latest updates. In contrast, ChatGPT's data is limited to information available until 2021, potentially restricting access to newer research and information. Bard's use of Google's PaLM 2 language model sets it apart, while ChatGPT operates GPT-3.5 with GPT-4 technology available in its paid version, ChatGPT Plus. Bard excels at developing numerous chunks of information, whereas ChatGPT mainly generates content in a single text prompt.

Both ChatGPT and Bard are still in their juvenile stages, making it hard to determine which chatbot is superior. ChatGPT excels at generating and summarizing text, while Bard provides more relevant information when answering questions. These chatbots are continuously trained based on user feedback, implying that improvements and updates are likely to occur.

The field of AI in marketing is rapidly growing up, expanding its applications beyond content generation. It now encompasses customer service, email optimization, product recommendations, and social media posts, among other areas. The future of AI in marketing stays dynamic and adaptable.
